With an unseasonably warm winter nearly in our rear-view mirror and a potentially early peak bloom Cherry Blossom season right around the corner, it seems like Spring in D.C. is almost here! In fact, one of those incredible spring milestones is on February 29th, which is why you shouldn’t just be excited about the Leap Year deals in D.C.!
The sunset on Thursday, February 29th, will be D.C.’s last sunset before 6 pm for the first half of the year, and sunsets in D.C. won’t go back to before 6 pm until after November 7th! It won’t be a monumental difference, for instance, the sunset tonight will be at 6 pm exactly, and the sunset on March 1st is slated for 6:01 pm, but while the difference isn’t significant, the milestone is! Plus with only ten days until day-light-savings ‘spring-forward’ on March 10th when our clocks move forward one hour, before you know we’re going to have 7 pm sunsets once again right here in the capital!
How Washingtonians can celebrate the later sunsets
With later sunsets in D.C., the obvious answer for how to celebrate this milestone is to spend the extra time you have outside!
