Ready for summer? We’re not sure we are after reading the Old Farmer’s Almanac predictions.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac is a highly popular report that comes out every year and predicts the coming year’s weather. Beloved by farmer’s who use it to see how winter will fare, there are some modern-day weather corporations that disagree with the almanac’s prediction. That makes sense, considering the almanac isn’t perfect, but it does have an accuracy of 80% for the entire year.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac has been around since 1792, when its first issue premiered, written by Robert B. Thomas. It reports on weather using a method that is based primarily on the solar activity cycle and the motion of the moon, as well as tidal action and certain winds in the stratosphere over the equator.
So what did the almanac say about this summer’s weather? D.C., we suggest you make sure your air conditioners are working, because it’s going to be another scorcher. The almanac has predicted the weather to be much like last year’s record-shattering summer, although this year we will likely see more record-breaking heat waves settle in across the nation. You still have the month of June to enjoy before the heat becomes sweltering. Rain is predicted to be average although we’re expected to have higher than predicted precipitation. Bad news, it might even rain on Fourth of July.
Before you get too bummed, let’s remember, it’s 80% accurate, not 100%, so sweltering heat may not come to pass. But we wouldn’t take any chances if we were you. Keep cool this summer and let’s try to deal with another hot, hot summer with ice cream, pool parties, and air-conditioning.
