This is one of the many events in the DMV area that, despite being historical, you don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy!
The Revolutionary War Weekend event at Mount Vernon will transport you back in time to let you see what life was like during the 18th-century struggle for freedom that helped shape our country.
That being said, this event is anything but boring; there are events planned to entertain all ages, making it the perfect family plan this weekend.
When and where is the Revolutionary Way Weekend being held?
The two-day event is taking place this Saturday and Sunday at George Washington’s iconic Mount Vernon estate in Alexandria.
The best option to get there is to take the metro to the King Street metro station in Alexandria and then hop on the official shuttle service for $10, which will promptly take you to the Mount Vernon estate at the following times:
- 10 am
- 11 am
- 12 pm
You can also take the shuttle back from Mount Vernon to the King Street metro station at any of the following times in the afternoon:
- 2 pm
- 3 pm
- 4 pm

What to expect at the Revolutionary War Weekend
The annual event is going all out this year for America’s 250th anniversary, so they are pulling out all the stops to make this the experience of a lifetime.
Tickets for the event can be purchased on the Mount Vernon website and are priced as follows on a per-day basis:
- $35 for adults (12+)
- $22 for youths (6-11)
- Free for children (0-5)
