Washingtonians in search of one of the most exclusive and high-end dining opportunities in the District, this one is for you!
The Stadium Chef Series at Nationals Park presented by Capital One, is benefiting the James Beard Foundation® this week with a five-course tasting menu featuring dishes prepared by nine of the best chefs in town!
The star chefs, who have each received recognition from the James Beard Awards in the past, boast accolades that range from “Best New Restaurant” to “Best Chef in the Nation.”

What is the Stadium Chef Series?
As we mentioned earlier, the Stadium Chef Series is a one-night multi-course meal prepared by a star-studded lineup of local chefs.
The culinary event will be hosted at Nationals Park, where patrons will be seated at a massive banquet-style table directly on the field under the lights!
It will be taking place this Wednesday, October 29th, in the evening.
The meal kicks off at 7 pm, but depending on the ticket you purchase, there are some exclusive events for select patrons at 5:30 pm.

What chefs are preparing the dinner?
There will be a total of five courses for the tasting menu, prepared by a roster of nine local chefs curated by Executive Chef Matthias Merges.
The local D.C. chefs who are taking part in the Stadium Chef Series are:
- Kevin Tien – Owner and head chef of Moon Rabbit, a modern Vietnamese restaurant that was recently ranked one of the top restaurants in all of North America.
- Carlos Delgado – Owner and head chef of Causa, a restaurant known for its seafood-forward menu heavily inspired by the Andes and Chef Delgado’s culinary background in South America. Delgado is a 2025 James Beard Award winner for “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” and was a Michelin Guide Washington, D.C. & Young Chef Award Winner in 2024.
- Angel Barreto – Executive chef at Anju, where Chef Barreto’s contemporary Korean dishes are turning heads and satisfying hungry patrons. Notably, Barreto is a James Beard Award Finalist and Semifinalist for “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic,” and was even named one of Food & Wine’s “Best New Chefs.”
- Rob Rubba – Owner and head chef of Oyster Oyster, Chef Rubba won the James Beard “Outstanding Chef” Award in 2023, an honor reserved for the very best chef in the United States. Since then, Oyster Oyster has earned (and maintained) a Michelin Star rating in the D.C. Michelin Guide and also earned a new ‘Green’ Michelin Star to denote the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability in dining.
- Isabel Coss – An Executive Chef in the Popal Group, you can taste her dishes at either one of their two award-winning restaurants: Pascual or Lutèce. In 2025, Isabel was a James Beard Award semifinalist for “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic.”
- Matt Conroy – An Executive Chef for three locations under The Popal Group umbrella (Maison, Pascual, and Lutèce), Chef Conroy was a semi-finalist for the 2025 James Beard Award’s “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” category.
- Candice Mensah – Head chef at Hedzole, Chef Mensah’s authentic Ghanian and West African cuisine has won her awards and earned her major accolades in the culinary world.
- Scott Drewno – A 2025 James Beard Award finalist for “Outstanding Restaurateur,” Chef Drewno is the mastermind behind The Fried
Rice Collective, which includes award-winning spots like CHIKO and Anju. - Juan Olivera – With his brother and co-chef, Manuel Olivera, the siblings’ restaurant, Ceibo, has been praised as one of the best in the city with its “vibrant flavors of the Montevideo and Buenos Aires regions.”
