Summer in D.C. is in full swing, and it’s certainly been a hot one thus far! While there are plenty of ways to escape the heat, very few things beat the sweet relief of an ice cream treat. And now, D.C.’s ice cream scene just got bigger with the launch of Tyra Banks’ pop-up scoop shop in Woodley Park.
Opening on July 19 at 2653 Connecticut Ave NW, SMiZE & DREAM’s Flavor Studio brings artisanal, handmade ice cream to D.C..
Visitors can anticipate bold flavors like “Cap Hill Crunch” made with Cap’n Crunch cereal and house-made French toast, and “That Woodley Park Thang” with shortbread cookies and blueberry jam. Each cup and cone will feature a SMiZE Surprize, which consists of a signature sweet truffle hidden in every serving. And it doesn’t end there! SMiZE & DREAM will drop a new flavor each week until the shop closes its doors.
Of course, Tyra Banks’ official announcement was nothing short of iconic:
Ready to check out the shop firsthand? The first 202 guests will receive a free ice cream scoop and SMiZE Surprize of their choosing on July 19 while supplies last.
Tyra Banks has shared that she is “living [her] sweetest dream,” and she aspires to empower others to dream big as well. The pop-up will remain open until September 20, 2024.
Following the limited-time shop, SMiZE & DREAM will invest in D.C.’s culinary education, collaborating with government agencies and local organizations to create a non-profit ice cream and entrepreneurial learning center.
The program aims to educate underserved youth about the ice cream industry, extending globally to SMiZE’s international outposts to foster worldwide connections.
