Planning a European getaway from Washington, D.C. is about to get easier.
United Airlines will launch two new nonstop international routes from Washington Dulles International Airport in 2027, connecting the D.C. region directly with Toulouse, France, and Milan, Italy.
The new flights are part of what United calls its largest international expansion in the airline’s history, adding 10 new international cities and several new routes across Europe and Asia.

When do the new D.C. flights to Toulouse and Milan start?
The first of the two new routes will connect Washington Dulles (IAD) and Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) beginning April 26, 2027.
The Toulouse route will operate daily, year-round, making it a particularly convenient new option for travelers heading to southern France.
United says it will operate the route with its new Airbus A321XLR aircraft, and the airline will be the only U.S. carrier offering a nonstop flight to Toulouse.
Then, on May 28, 2027, United will begin nonstop service between Washington Dulles and Milan, with flights operating three times a week.
The Milan route will make United the only airline offering a nonstop connection between the nation’s capital and Milan, giving D.C.-area travelers another direct gateway to Italy.
How much will tickets cost for the new flights?
United will not have a single fixed ticket price for the new Dulles-to-Toulouse and Dulles-to-Milan flights.
Prices will vary depending on factors including the travel date, demand, cabin, and how far in advance a ticket is purchased, etc…
The good news for travelers planning ahead is that tickets for both new 2027 routes are already on sale, with round trip tickets starting at around $900 per person.
That means early planners can begin checking fares now and comparing different travel dates, including one-way and round-trip options.
As with most international flights, prices can change over time, so travelers hoping to score a better deal may want to check multiple departure dates and monitor fares before booking.
How to book a ticket for United’s new nonstop flights
Travelers can book the new routes directly through United’s website or the United mobile app.
When searching, enter Washington Dulles (IAD) as the departure airport and either Toulouse (TLS) or Milan as the destination, then select travel dates after the routes begin operating in 2027.
Travelers can also filter their search for nonstop flights and choose from available cabin and fare options.
The new service means D.C.-area flyers will soon have two more reasons to skip the layover: Toulouse beginning April 26, 2027, and Milan beginning May 28, 2027.
